I'm incredibly proud of this guitar that I built more than 10 years ago as an experiment. It went to a good friend and professional musician, who - as a dedicated Fender guy - appreciated the versatility of a 25.5" scale neck paired with Gibson style appointments. When he offered to trade this guitar for a new VIP Custom T-style build, I was more than happy to take it back in. What a cool and unique guitar! Please check out my homepage (Vintageinspiredpickups.com) to see a selection of players that play my guitars, pickups, parts - like Slash and Richard Fortus from Guns n' Roses, Buddy Guy, etc.The body was made from Honduran mahogany, routed out, and topped with a flat bookmatched flame maple top. The neck with Trini Lopez shaped headstock is from the same block of Honduran mahogany with a highest grade ebony fretboard. The pickups are a brand new model we offer - the Birdie-Bucker set with our proprietary VIPaf covers. We use position matched 550k VIPots for both volume and the neck tone positions. The bridge tone pot is a DiMarzio push-pull pot to enable a super cool out of phase option in the middle position. The guitar was lacquered with 100% old school nitro and tastefully aged. It feels and plays like a vintage guitar. It originally had a stop-tailpiece setup, but when I got it back, I installed an Epiphone® Frequensator tailpiece, which added a wonderful touch of transparency, air, frequency range. We also installed a Towner string tension bar which allows for the super accurate adjustment of the string break angle over the bridge and with that the overall string tension. We also include a lightweight stop tailpiece as well as a custom made engraved VIP plate to cover the studs if you want to remove the Towner bar.Overall, this is a fantastic sounding and playing guitar that stands out!Like with all guitars, you may have to adjust the setup to your liking and/or to adjust it to different climates.
